Bonham - Roundhouse - Part 8

Today the best laid plans fell thru as I screwed up the lighting for the roundhouse, so finishing the interior and affixing it to it base will have to wait a few days. I need to make a trip to the LHS for more lights.

I move to prepping for my layout visitors on Wednesday morning. I when ahead and temporarily place the round house in its place on the layout, so here are the photos.

I add a few engines just to see what it going to look like when finished. Besides lighting I need to make or get some vent stacks and fire water barrels.

Bonham - Roundhouse - Part 7

Today, I work on the two roofs for the roundhouse. After some experimenting with different techniques. I going to use masking tape to simulate a tar paper roof. I could of ordered some ChartPak  paper tape in the approx. width, but I wanted to move forward with this project today, so I cut my own from blue painters' tape I had on hand.

First up is the lower roof, in progress photo

Lower roof trimmed and painted

Then move on to the upper roof, in progress photo

Bonham - Roundhouse - Part 2

Not a lot of forward progress on this structure, most has been redo and screw-ups, but I was able to salvage and move on so here what has gotten accomplish last couple weeks

I build the inside frame structure, then proceeded to destroy them while staining (big clumsy hands) (note to self; stain first then glue together).

Tonight, I re-glue and mount the end wall frames to the siding.

Bonham - Roundhouse - Part 1

After a trip to the LHS today, I start working on the roundhouse for Bonham Yard.

Here is the only photo I could find of the prototype structure. I will have to use my modeling license to determine the rest.

First up was to work on the roundhouse foundation. I start this awhile back to get the roundhouse tracks in, so today I finish the basic foundation. Once I have the structure built and know I do not need to modify the foundation anymore. I will fix it in place and fill in some gaps between the rails and foundation.

Next I work on the roundhouse structure. First up was to finish the cad drawing I started a while back. I like to printout the wall section and use the printouts as templates. Then on to cutting out the first few pieces today.

More to come....

Added a page - Door Layout

I have been having a number of hits/page views of the two photos of my unfinished N Scale Door Layout. I have added a page here to show some of the photos from its interception until I stored it under the current layout.

Maybe the photos will help someone get started....Enjoy.

I have also been try to build some signals or at least develop a technique to build some, here are a couple of test photos

I was having trouble with building consistent targets, so I got inspired by another modeler that is using 3D printing so here are by results for the targets

I have a number of request for the LED I used/shown above, so here the link

Progress - 26 August 2012

Due to a family commitment on Saturday, not a lot has been accomplish on the control panel, here what I got done.

Friday evening I found my 3M pinstripe tape and started adding the tape. Sunday I finish up with the striping and added the turntable and roundhouse graphic. Then move on to adding the switches for track power at the roundhouse. Then mounted the panel and added the screws for turnout control, that is all for this weekend.

Progress - 22 August 2012

The last week and half, I have been working when I can on the Bonham control panel mostly wiring and troubleshooting. I did manage to short out one of the 556 Driver boards, if I not making mistake then I am not progressing on the layout. Here are the photos

Last Friday evening I made this little board to work with the 556 driver board, it allows a single momentary push button to alternate the direction of a switch machine. The 556 boards require two inputs to change directions. I will be making more of these as this is how I am controlling mainline and industry turnouts

This is where I am with wiring as of yesterday, everything from the panel out to the switch machines is done, all that left to do is the front panel. Tonight I started the front panel.

Printed out the layout.

Started with a clean piece of styrene and transfer the center of the holes with a center punch.

Drew layout lines, basically connect the dots

Drill all the holes for leds, switches and etc. Then proceeded to look for the 3M pinstriping tape but that was a bust. So that is all for this evening.
