Throttle Pocket Test

Yesterday I started looking into what was available in production throttle pocket that fit my EasyDCC RF1300 Throttles. Not finding anything available or a good DIY throttle pocket. I decided to try an duplicate my version of a "Cab Cubby" throttle pocket, so with a little design time yesterday and today.

Here my result

There need to be some adjustments, but not bad for first try. The T&P logo was just an ideal to see how it looks, it will not be on the final pockets.

  1. Hi Dwyane.

I use self adhesive hook-and-loop ("Velcro") material to mount my throttles to the layout. I've placed 50mm square patches of the soft 'loop' part at intervals around the layout fascia, and attached the corresponding hard plastic 'eye' to the back of my throttles. 50mm square is overkill, but it holds a throttle securely enough for the throttle to be operated one-handed.

There's a photo of my friend Brendan using his throttle while it's attached to the layout fascia in this post:

The photo also shows two other panels of the loop fabric (not being used). Because it mounts flat against the layout fascia, it doesn't create a knocking hazard for operators as they move around the layout.

    Regards,
    Ron

    1. Ron, I considered the velcro, but I have heard with the EasyDCC throttles that went the throttle is removed by operator there a trend to pull from the bottom and the antenna becomes a pry/pivot point and breaks off

  2. Very nifty and a place to put uncoupler picks as well. Very cool.

  4. Dwyane,
Very sharp!! I like how they blend in well with the fascia. Where did you get ahold of a laser cutter?
Once again.. Nice job!!, neat, tidy, and very clean looking.
